Arcturus

Beautiful. That has to be one of my favorite stars, mostly because I use it all the time for finding other objects and it is also one of the first that I see apart from Jupiter in the evening.
I have heard that the spikes on stars come from the mounts holding the secondary mirror in place, so would those not exist if I were to take a similar picture but use a refractor telescope instead of a Newtonian? I can't say I have seen any star images that were taken with a refractor.
